Real Time Systems

Oak Ridge National Laboratory is very familiar with real-time systems development, stretching back into the 60s and 70s. Today the Lab is developing systems for both internal and external use. Systems range from the high-profile efforts on the Chemical and Biological Mass Spectrometer (CBMS-Block II) being developed for the U.S. Army Soldier and Biological Chemical Command to combat battlefield chemical and biological weapons threats to the Personnel Accountability System (PASS) This system is designed to account for personnel during an evacuation or drill within 30 minutes or less in order to meet DOE requirements. Pass has been deployed in Building 9212 at DOE's Y-12 Nuclear Weapons Plant. The system provides the capability to quickly scan badges of personnel during building drills and evacuations, compare that information against the building entry information, and print exception reports to account for personnel. A spin off of PASS is the work for a government agency using RF technology. See EMAS. These systems and others may be viewed at the links below.

We utilize an object-oriented approach to software development in a highly productive development environment with software quality assurance tailored to the needs of the project.
