The purpose of my research is to effectively build a user-friendly, web-based registration and reporting application for the Tennessee FIRST LEGO League (FLL) Tournaments. The FIRST LEGO League Tennessee State Tournaments are co-sponsored by UT-Battelle (the management and operating contractor of Oak Ridge National Laboratory) and the Tennessee Technological University. The registration module of the application will collect information about the teams competing in the tournament. The application will employ role-based authentication to ensure that only authorized users can access the system's data and that individual users have access to only the data that is appropriate to their role. Authorized users will be able to add, edit, and delete data. The reporting module of the application will provide tournament coaches and organizers with aggregate data and easy-to-use output in the form of Excel spreadsheets. The application will be designed to accommodate future expansion and modification.
