+ Virtual Mouse
In ORNL's "Mouse House", mice were fed a liquid detecting agent
that flowed through their blood stream. Using Computed
Tomography (CT), a method in the medical field that can be used to produce volumetric data through a series of two-dimentional X-rays,
this agent can easily detect dense materials in the body, such as bones and cancers. Next, using the Marching Cubes algorithm,
the coordinates in the resulting volumetric data was used to form a solid 3D mesh of triangles. ORNL is using this method as a prototype
for thier "Virtual Human" project.
