Integration of computing and data into instruments of science and engineering

The focus of the 2014 Smoky Mountains Computational Sciences and Engineering Conference is to advance our understanding of the state-of-the art in high-performance computing, simulation science, and data analytics, and how these symbiotic disciplines are being integrated today into instruments of science and engineering research.

High-performance computing has advanced in capability to the point that integration with large and complex data sets is the norm, bringing simulation and data analytics together. These two fields can be merged to achieve mission goals and societal impacts. The Computing and Computational Sciences Directorate at Oak Ridge National Laboratory seeks to focus attention on accelerated progress in scientific breakthroughs by bringing together key partners from government, academia, and industry for the 2014 edition of this conference.

The 2014 conference will be held at the Park Vista hotel, Gatlinburg, Tennessee, September 2-4, and the Exascale workshop will be September 5-6.

Dress for the conference is business casual.
