On July 16th, the fourth SciDAC Tutorials Day will be held at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC). Held on the day following the main SciDAC meeting, Tutorials Day provides open and free tutorials on a wide range of subjects in scientific computing. The focus is on bringing the benefits of DOE's investments in SciDAC to new researchers in academia and industry. This is a great venue to learn how to parallelize your current computational efforts or to improve your computation by implementing the latest computing algorithms and methods.

Registration is free. Transportation to and from the main SciDAC meeting site will be provided to presenters and attendees. A limited number of travel stipends are available for students needing assistance in their travel to the tutorials.

The 2010 SciDAC Conference is being held at The Chattanoogan hotel ( from July 12th to the 15th and the tutorials will be on the campus of the University of Tennessee, Chattanooga, on the 16th.

A bus will run from the conference hotel (The Chattanoogan) to the UTC Engineering, Math, and Computer Science Building (EMCS) departing at 8:30 AM. UTC is only about 5 minutes away by bus and about a 20 minute walk. We will have that bus all day and plan a noon shuttle both back to the hotel and to the Airport (Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport - aka Lovell Field, about 20 minutes away). We will make a similar run, to the hotel and the airport, at around 4:00 PM after the tutorials are over.

We can get close in parking for those with special needs, and there is a parking garage a short walk away for those driving in from nearby. A $1 parking fee for the day needs to be organized in advance, so contact us if you plan to drive in.

A noon box lunch and snacks/refreshments will be available in the hallway outside the classrooms.

All of the classrooms have A/V equipment and broadband access to the internet. The guest wifi accounts must be organized in advance so do not wait until the last minute to register. The rooms will accommodate from 35 (the smallest) to 60 students, so there should be plenty of room. The classroom schedule is as follows:
